COVID-19 has impacted charities across the country as they try to pursue their missions amidst dual health and economic crises. Our research shows that 42% of charities have created new programs and 54% have transitioned in-person programs online since the beginning of the pandemic.
Whether virtual or in real life (IRL), awareness campaigns or fundraising campaigns for nonprofits take a lot of work. In fact, it’s often a full-time job for at least one to three months prior to the event.
And then, you barely have time to bask in the success of this year’s event before you start working on the next one.
The unparalleled nature of this COVID-19 crisis we’re currently facing means we do not have a roadmap for what to expect, and gathering information on the impact is essential to reacting quickly and appropriately.
The word ‘reconciliation’ appears with increasing urgency as we approach our first National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. With it comes a heaviness that occupies spaces of dissatisfaction, cynicism, or outright anger that equates to ‘failure,’ especially regarding Indian Residential Schools in Canada.
