ABOUT THE CERTIFICATION

Founded in 1988, the Caring Company Certification awards an Imagine Canada Trustmark to companies that give back at least 1% of pre-tax profits in support of the communities where their employees live and work.

Community investment can be in the form of cash donations, paid volunteerism, in-kind contributions, or management costs. In addition, the ongoing fees paid by a company to participate in PRISM are included in the calculation, as are any Imagine Canada advertising donations.

Certification gives companies an advantage by providing a nationally recognized third party verification of their community support.

How it Works

1. Preparation
Meet with us to review what counts as community investment and ensure you understand the calculation. To find value in the Certification, we recommend a company has at least 100 employees or 100 Million in annual revenues.
2. Application
You can begin your application for Certification as soon as you have signed up for the PRISM Network "Certify" or "Accelerate" level. To find value in the Certification, we recommend a company has at least 100 employees or 100 Million in annual revenues. When ready, the application will be reviewed by Imagine Canada staff who will ensure it is complete, may request additional documentation, and will provide you with helpful guidance. When submitting the community investment data required for Certification you can also opt to complete a Practices Gap Analysis (coming in 2025).
3. Certification
Qualifying companies earn the right to use the Imagine Canada Trustmark. Compliance and continuous improvement during the Certification period are supported through a reporting process that requires companies to submit high level data demonstrating their commitment to community is being met.
4. Renewal
Compliance and continuous improvement during the Certification period are supported through a reporting process that requires companies to submit high level data demonstrating their commitment to community is being met.
