31 Charities and Nonprofits Earn the Imagine Canada Standards Accreditation

Press release

Standards Trustmark

Accredited organizations recognized for their strong governance and commitment to transparency

Toronto, April 28, 2026 Imagine Canada, the umbrella organization for the Canadian charitable and nonprofit sector, is delighted to announce that 31 organizations from across the country have achieved or renewed their Imagine Canada Standards Accreditation. By meeting standards for nonprofit governance and management, these organizations demonstrate an ongoing commitment to effective organizational practices that strengthen their ability to serve and support communities across Canada.

Canada’s vibrant nonprofit sector faces increasingly complex challenges that demand collective solutions. Achieving accreditation reflects organizations’ leadership through excellence in five key areas: board governance, financial accountability and transparency, fundraising, human resources, and volunteer involvement.

The Imagine Canada Accreditation is a transformative process that awards a Trustmark to organizations meeting these rigorous standards. This widely recognized symbol signals to donors, funders, staff, and volunteers that their goodwill is in good hands.

We welcome the following charities to our network of accredited organizations:

We also celebrate the organizations that demonstrated ongoing commitment to strong governance and accountability by successfully completing their reaccreditation:

"Achieving the Imagine Canada Accreditation is a powerful signal of leadership. These organizations have shown an unwavering commitment to prioritizing transparency, good governance, and operational excellence. It not only reinforces public trust, but also creates a solid foundation for their organization’s future. The growing network of over 280 accredited organizations across the country contributes to shaping a strong and resilient nonprofit and charitable sector dedicated to serving communities," says Bruce MacDonald, President & CEO of Imagine Canada.

The accreditation process is designed to be accessible and impactful for organizations of all sizes and missions. Participants benefit from expert guidance, peer mentorship, and practical tools and resources to continuously strengthen their practices. Accreditation is also recognized by Intact Public Entities in the evaluation of a nonprofit’s risk profile, which may result in potential savings for new and existing charitable and nonprofit clients.

We congratulate all accredited organizations for their achievement and extend our sincere gratitude to our independent peer reviewers, peer advisors, members of the Standards Council, and other volunteers for their dedicated and generous commitment to the Standards and the accreditation process.

About the Standards

Since 2012, the Imagine Canada Standards have served as the only national framework for nonprofit governance and management, designed for all Canadian charities and nonprofits. Through a rigorous process, independent peer reviewers evaluate organizations against 73 standards. The Standards are created based on sector-wide consultations and reflect shared sector practices. Oversight of the Standards is ensured by the Standards Council, an independent body of sector experts responsible for evolving and safeguarding standards’ integrity.
Guidance on complying with the Standards, along with tools and resources to support ongoing practice improvement, is available free of charge.
