“Le communautaire à boutte” : A national movement taking action & demanding to be heard (with Sophie Tétrault-Martel & Caroline Chartier)

Getting the attention of elected officials and the media is already difficult. Doing so while mobilizing organizations that are already overwhelmed is an even greater challenge. Yet a recent movement is bringing together organizations from across Quebec to call for recognition of the essential role of the community sector and an end to precarious funding.

In this episode of Let’s Imagine, we speak with Sophie Tétrault-Martel, support worker at the Centre des femmes de Longueuil, and Caroline Chartier, deputy director of the Centre Roland-Bertrand in Shawinigan, both spokespersons for the "Le communautaire à boutte" movement.

Sophie and Caroline explain the objectives and coordinated actions of the mouvement to denounce an increasingly untenable reality: needs that keep growing on one side, and frontline teams stretched to the breaking point on the other.

This inspiring conversation also touches on the everyday challenges pushing organizations to mobilize, the importance of continuing to fight to be heard, and the impact of this movement on the people involved in it.
