Fuel the Fundraiser in You: Discovering Your Fundraising Strengths

Does fundraising feel like perpetual wheel-spinning? Are you secretly wondering when—or if—it will ever feel more aligned or at ease?

At the heart of every successful fundraising strategy is people. But when every fundraising task feels like pulling teeth, chances are your approach isn’t aligned with your leadership strengths.

What if it didn’t have to be that way? Fundraising often feels painful or unsustainable not because you’re doing it wrong, but because it’s out of sync with how you naturally lead. Especially for new leaders reluctantly taking on fundraising as part of their role, the overwhelm is real. But ironically, the most authentic (and effective) fundraising begins when you lean into who you already are, and learn how to build around your strengths.

Whether you’re stepping into fundraising for the first time or want to activate your team’s full potential, this session will help you uncover the fundraising leader within you. Hosted by Grant Connect in collaboration with fundraising consultant Betty Xie, you'll be introduced to a strengths-based framework rooted in leadership identity, featuring four fundraising archetypes: The Community Advocate, The Solution Architect, The Vision Amplifier, and The Growth Architect. The session will include a walkthrough of a grant writing scenario to show how different leadership styles show up at each stage—from identifying the right funder to crafting the narrative and stewarding relationships. You’ll also learn how to flex your strengths across different types of fundraising, and how to grow your skillset with strategy and compassion.
