Why fundraisers choose Grant Connect

It is superior to other systems I’ve used, but at a more reasonable cost. Very user friendly.

First of all, thanks for your subscription! You can expect to receive your login details within 1 business day of your online payment - usually within about 2 hours. If you’re sending us a cheque, you’ll get access as soon as your payment reaches us.

I lost my password! How can I access my Grant Connect subscription?

Retrieved your password and it still doesn’t work? Contact Imagine Canada at info@imaginecanada.ca to find out if your account has lapsed or your user details have been changed.

I'm looking for grants, but not for a Canadian charity. Am I eligible for the grants listed in Grant Connect?

The majority of funding sources listed in Grant Connect only give grants to “ qualified donees” which includes all registered Canadian charities. Individuals fundraising on behalf of themselves, enterprises headquartered outside of Canada, and nonprofit organizations without charitable status may not find success using Grant Connect.

Are there free trials available?

Free product trials are available upon request. To start your free trial, sign up for a Grant Connect Tour with one of our staff.

What is the difference between a subscription to Grant Connect and a membership with Imagine Canada?

Grant Connect subscriptions and memberships with Imagine Canada are entirely separate services. A membership to Imagine Canada supports the work we do and entitles you to many benefits but it does not provide you with access to Grant Connect. Imagine Canada members receive a discount on the subscription fees for Grant Connect, but you do not have to be a member of Imagine Canada to subscribe to Grant Connect.

What discounts are available for Imagine Canada members and small nonprofit organizations?

Imagine Canada members save when they subscribe to Grant Connect. Become a member and receive $100/year off the cost of an annual term or more than $10/month off a monthly term. We also offer subscription discounts to any charitable organization with total annual revenue* less than $1 million. Calculating and receiving your discounted rate is easy! Visit our subscription form and select your organization type, revenue, and membership status. The total rate will adjust automatically and show up under “Payment term.” There are no taxes charged to Grant Connect subscriptions.

*Revenue for charities is verified against line 4700 on your Registered Charity Information Return (T3010).

I work with an organization that cannot afford a tool like Grant Connect, even with the discount available for smaller organizations. Is there any way to access it for free?

Yes! You can access a limited version of Grant Connect for free at hundreds of library branches across Canada. To identify the closest library to you where Grant Connect is available, please send us an email at grantconnect@imaginecanada.ca.

What are the fees for a library to get a site-wide license to Grant Connect?

Interested in providing Grant Connect access to your library patrons? Contact a member of our team to get a quote. We are always happy to chat.

Where does the information in Grant Connect come from?

Imagine Canada performs all research in-house by trained staff to ensure we provide high quality, up-to-date information. Unlike other available products, all of our data is vetted and packaged by our dedicated staff so that our users do not have to perform extra research on their own.

To provide a comprehensive picture on each funder, Imagine Canada uses multiple data sources. This includes CRA Registered Charity Information Returns, IRS Form 990s, website mining, annual reports, social media, as well as exclusive details gleaned from on-going collaboration with thousands of funders. Learn more at our features page.

What is the difference between a foundation and a grantmaking foundation?

When fundraisers think about foundations in Canada as a potential revenue or donor stream, they are not referring to every registered Canadian foundation. Registered foundations exist for a multitude of reasons besides (or in addition to) providing grants and donations. Only one third of Canadian foundations are actively making grants and donations to unrelated charities. These are what you often hear referred to as grantmaking foundations. For more information on this topic, check out our blog post The Fundraiser’s Field Guide to Spotting Foundations.

My organization funds Canadian nonprofit organizations. Do we have to pay for Grant Connect in order to view, add, or update our details in Grant Connect?

We welcome collaboration from funders to ensure that Grant Connect has the best information possible. We charge no fees to funders who wish to modify and view their profile details. Please contact our Research Team via email to view and update your information.
